Cesare Pietroiusti
Cesare Pietroiusti, artista, vive a Roma. Laureato in Medicina con tesi in Clinica Psichiatrica, è co-fondatore del Centro Studi Jartrakor, Roma (1977) e della Rivista di Psicologia dell’Arte (1979). Ha sempre dimostrato un interesse specifico per le situazioni paradossali o apparentemente irragionevoli, comunemente “considerate troppo insignificanti per diventare motivo di analisi o di rappresentazione”. E' stato uno dei coordinatori delle residenze Oreste (1997-2001) e del convegno Come spiegare a mia madre che ciò che faccio serve a qualcosa?, Link Project, Bologna (1997), e del progetto Oreste alla Biennale, 50ª Biennale di Venezia (1999). E' stato inoltre co-fondatore di Nomads & Residents (New York, 2000), curatore del CSAV Corso Superiore di Arti Visive della Fondazione Ratti di Como (2006-2011), membro del collettivo Lu Cafausu (2007-), e presidente della Fondazione Lac o Le Mon, San Cesario di Lecce, dal 2015. Ha insegnato presso l' MFA della LUCAD (Lesley University, Boston 2009-16), ed è docente di Laboratorio Arti Visive presso lo Iuav, Venezia (2004-in corso) e presso la NABA, Roma (2021-in corso). Dal 1977 ha esposto in spazi privati e pubblici, deputati e non, in Italia e all’estero.

Cesare Pietroiusti is an Italian artist based in Rome. He has a degree in Medicine and graduated with an essay on Psychiatry. He is the co-founder and editor of the artist-run space Jartrakor in Rome (1977) and of the magazine Rivista di Psicologia dell’Arte (1979). Pietroiusti has always been interested in paradoxical or apparently irrational situations commonly considered “too insignificant to become the basis for analysis or representation”. He is also a curator and initiator of many collective projects, including theOreste projects (1997-2001), the conference How do I explain to my mother that what I do is useful? (Link Project, Bologna, 1997), and Oreste at the Venice Biennale (Biennale di Venezia, 1999). He is co-founder of Nomads & Residents, New York (2000), curator for the CSAV, the Advanced Visual Art Course at the Fondazione Ratti, Como (2006-2011), MFA Faculty, LUCAD, Lesley University, Boston (2009-2016) and NABA, Rome (2021-ongoing),and lecturer in Visual Art workshop at IUAV University, Venice (2004-ongoing). As a member of the collective Lu Cafausu, he is co-founder and president of the Lac o Le Mon Foundation, San Cesario di Lecce (2015-ongoing). Since 1977, he has exhibited, alone or with others, in official and alternative, private and public spaces, in Italy and abroad.
