Peter Ablinger, compositore austriaco, dopo un avvio nelle arti grafiche ha studiato composizione con Gösta Neuwirth e Roman Haubenstock-Ramati a Graz e Vienna. Dal 1982 vive a Berlino, dove ha fondato e diretto numerosi festival e concerti. Nel 1988 ha fondato l'Ensemble Zwischentöne. È stato direttore ospite di Klangforum Wien, United Berlin e Insel Musik Ensemble. Ha insegnato come visiting professor presso l'Università della Musica a Graz, come professore di ricerca presso l'Università di Huddersfield, ed è stato professore ospite al Royal Conservatory dell'Aia e all'Università di Leida. Dal 2012 è membro della Akademie der Künste Berlin. Peter Ablinger è uno dei pochi artisti che utilizza il rumore senza caricarlo di alcun tipo di simbolismo. Peter Ablinger is an Austrian composer born in Schwanenstadt. After studying graphic arts, he completed his studies in composition with Gösta Neuwirth and Roman Haubenstock-Ramati in Graz and Vienna. Since 1982 he has lived in Berlin, where he has initiated and conducted numerous festivals and concerts. In 1988 he founded the Ensemble Zwischentöne. He has been guest conductor of Klangforum Wien, United Berlin and the Insel Musik Ensemble. He was research professor at the University of Huddersfield, and guest professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and at Leiden University. In 2012 he became a member of the Academy of Arts Berlin. For decades, Peter Ablinger's work has been forcing open fault lines in the topography of the audible, questioning the nature of sound, time, and space, and his findings have jeopardized and made dubious conventions usually thought irrefutable. These insights pertain to repetition and monotony, reduction and redundancy, density and entropy. His vast output of scores, electronic pieces, installations, and conceptual works consistently finds ways to put the ear's organization of reality in doubt.
