Jan Kopp

The Drunkenness of The Tiger. Mostre recenti: Ivresse du Tigre alla Galerie Maisonneuve Paris (2006), Singulier, Museum of Contemporary Art, Canton, Cina (2005), Remagine, Museum of Contemporary Art, Lyon (2005), Der Sprung ins kalte Wasser, Shedhalle, Zurich (2005), I need you, Centre Pasquart, Biel (2004), Exits, Kunsthalle Tirol, Austria (2001) e Lyon Biennale (2001).

Jan Kopp (Frankfurt, Germany) lives since 1991 in Paris, France where he studied at Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Beaux Arts (1991-1996). Jan Kopp’s works appear in multiple forms reaching from pencil drawings, video and performances to architectural installations and large-scale realizations in urban spaces. He invents languages, teaches subjects he ignores, builds houses with chairs, books and cars, writes music with chimneys, mounts his films backwards and collaborates with his five-year-old son to compose a series of drawings called The Drunkenness of The Tiger. In his assemblages the artists deconstructs and reorganizes the meaning of things and places, opening new fields of interpretation and understanding while relying on the absurd, the unknown and impossible as thriving forces to challenge the reel. Main recent exhibitions include Ivresse du Tigre at Galerie Maisonneuve in Paris, France (2006), Singulier , Museum of Contemporary Art, Canton, China (2005), Remagine, Museum of Contemporary Art, Lyon, (2005), Der Sprung ins kalte Wasser, Shedhalle, Zurich, CH, (2005), I need you, Centre Pasquart, Biel, CH (2004), Exits, Kunsthalle Tirol, Austria (2001) and the Lyon Biennale (2001).
