Una veglia è tradizionalmente un momento in cui le persone si riuniscono per sperimentare il passaggio simbolico tra la notte e il giorno. Per questa collaborazione che attraversa due culture, la coreografa francese Latifa Laâbissi e il coreografo brasiliano Marcelo Evelin creano le condizioni per una veglia abitata da voci e suoni, popolata da presenze sgargianti e fantasmi assillanti, partendo dall’esperienza di un corpo medium in presa diretta con la realtà del mondo. In La Nuit tombe quand elle veut (La notte scende quando vuole) i performer invitano gli spettatori in uno stato di immersione percettiva, un'esperienza interiore in compagnia di tre figure - in parte guardiani notturni e in parte profeti - sempre all'erta. Accompagnate dal musicista Tomas Monteiro che col theremin amplifica gli stati immaginari, queste presenze mutano trasformandosi in corpi che vedono, raccolgono, sedimentano, cannibalizzano e seppelliscono. Attraversati da uno sguardo cieco, re-impastano cosmogonie facendo emergere riconfigurazioni utopiche e insolenti, a metà tra rabbia e incanto. Si lasciano abitare da spiriti in visita, come corpi offerti in prestito. Lasciano che queste immagini avvelenino la finzione, come chi gioca con il fuoco della chimera, chi raccogliere riti per farsi esistere. Moltiplicati dalle cortine rifrattive create da Nadia Lauro, la luce, i linguaggi e i corpi saturati di immagini si fondono in una materia in continua metamorfosi.Questo lavoro è concepito come un’immersione nella durata.

Traditionally, a vigil is a gathering moment permitting to pass through the symbolic threshold that led from the daylight to the night. For this collaboration from both sides of cultures, the french choreographer Latifa Laâbissi and the brasilian choreographer Marcelo Evelin chose to place the conditions of an incarnate vigil: embodied by voices, songs, inhabited by flaming presences and nagging ghosts, where the body is a medium, in touch with the reality of this world. With La Nuit tombe quand elle veut, the performers offer the audience to follow them in a perceptive immersion; crossing an internal experience with three figures on watch - half-look-out, half-pythia. In the company of the musician Tomas Monteiro, whose theremin becomes the amplifier of their imaginary states, their presences mutate, becoming “bodies that see, collect, sediment, cannibalize and bury”. Seeing with a blind eye, they re-imagine cosmogonies, bringing out utopic and insolent reconfigurations, somewhere between rage and enchantment. They allow themselves to be inhabited by visiting spirits, body borrowers, bodies which affect certain images, like fugitive archives. They let these images poison their fiction, like those playing with a chimera’s fire, those who bring together rites to confirm their own existence. Multiplied by the refractive costumes of Nadia Lauro, by the languages they produce, those bodies, swamped with pictures, melt in a tumultuous and malleable substance, in a constant metamorphosis. La Nuit tombe quand elle veut is a deep dive into the idea of time itself.
