Xing presenta il nuovo LP Livre d'images sans images di Mette Edvardsen & Iben Edvardsen, decima uscita di XONG collection - dischi d'artista. L'uscita è su vinile bianco, in edizione limitata e numerata di 300 copie, assieme ad una collector's edition di 25 copie, accompagnate da un disegno su carta formato poster, piegato come una mappa, che ricalca il gesto della performance.

Livre d'images sans images (Libro d'immagini senza immagini) di Mette Edvardsen & Iben Edvardsen - una collaborazione tra madre e figlia - prende a prestito il titolo da una serie di novelle di Andersen, pubblicate in Italia con il titolo Dialoghi con la luna. Ogni racconto è una piccola scena che la Luna ha visto durante la notte nel suo viaggio intorno al mondo,descritta a un pittore che la trasformerà in immagine. Per Mette Edvardsen “questa conversazione, nel significato originario della parola conversatio-onis ovvero ‘il trovarsi insieme’, è stata il punto di partenza del lavoro. Usando la meteorologia come filo drammaturgico ("la luna non si faceva vedere tutte le sere, a volte si intrometteva una nuvola"), abbiamo creato e raccolto materiali dalle nostre conversazioni sotto forma di registrazioni, testi, voci, disegni, suggestioni. Abbiamo montato le immagini,le libere connessioni e le ispirazioni nell'ordine in cui ci sono apparse. Sono allo stesso tempo fonti e tracce, materiale e supporto per nuove immaginazioni o eventi a venire.”  Il disco, affrontato progettualmente da Edvardsen come se si trattasse di un libro, contiene su un lato - one side - l'incipit del libro Livre d’images sans images letto da Iben Edvardsen, field recordings (le sonorità a bassa frequenza dei pipistrelli registrate da un bat-detector fatto in casa), suoni concreti (quello dei pennarelli che scorrono sulla carta), le prime registrazioni sonore della voce umana effettuate a metà ottocento con il fonautografo (prima che Edison inventasse il fonografo) e sperimentazioni simili, suoni da stanze vicine, parole e concetti, liste di immagini. Dall'altro lato - other side - è inciso il tentativo di catturare il suono di una stanza nella sua semplicità: una presenza acustica da cui farsi accompagnare come inavvertitamente.

Mette Edvardsen, artista norvegese, vive e lavora fra Bruxelles e Oslo. Opera nel campo delle performing arts come coreografa e performer. Sebbene si esprima anche col video, la scrittura, e la produzione editoriale, il suo interesse ruota comunque intorno alle arti performative intese come pratica e contesto. Ha lavorato per molti anni come danzatrice e performer in diverse compagnie e progetti. Dal 2002 ha avviato un percorso autoriale autonomo, presentando le sue performance nel panorama internazionale. Continua inoltre a sviluppare progetti con altri artisti, come collaboratrice e come performer. Tra le produzioni, oltre la serie sui limiti del linguaggio Black (2011), No Title (2014), We to be (2015), oslo (2017), e Penelope sleeps (2019), un'opera lirica in forma di saggio con le musiche di Matteo Fargion, spicca il suo progetto a lungo termine Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine (2010>) basato sulla pratica di memorizzazione di testi. Il processo, tuttora in corso, è stato presentato in oltre 40 città di tutto il mondo, in contesti quali la Biennale di Sidney, Index Foundation a Stoccolma, Oslobiennalen First Edition, Trust & Confusion al Tai Kwun Arts a Hong Kong, Biennale di San Paolo, Centre Pompidou a Parigi, assistendo alla nascita di una comunità di 140 libri viventi in venti lingue. Le sono state dedicate retrospettive al Black Box Theatre di Oslo (2015), nel focus program Idiorritmias al MACBA di Barcellona (2018), e da Amant a New York (2022). Nel corso del 2022-23 ha realizzato a Parigi un progetto in residenza a Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers sul gesto della scrittura, l'organizzazione della biblioteca, l'oralità e la traduzione. Nel 2023 debutta il progetto Livre d'images sans images. Il suo lavoro è stato presentato per la prima volta in Italia da Xing nel 2004, con ritorni nel corso del tempo a Bologna, a Live Arts Week e in altri contesti. Accanto alla produzione performativa ha sviluppato una pratica editoriale, sia collegata direttamente al proprio lavoro artistico che con la sua casa editrice indipendente fondata nel 2018, la Varamo Press. www.metteedvardsen.be

Xong è il nome della collana di dischi d'artista, prodotta da Xing, di personalità - italiane e non – legate al variegato mondo della performatività. La collana esplora e traccia una geografia di artisti che intendono il campo sonico come una delle piattaforme in cui espandere i loro mondi e la loro immaginazione. "Lo spazio del disco" è la scena su cui focalizzare e amplificare la propria poetica come fenomeno sonico e fisico, lo spazio da performare. Gli artisti che Xing ha coinvolto in questo progetto praticano di fatto e da sempre la transmedialità. Xong è un progetto unico nel suo genere che disegna nuovi contorni per produrre una diversa comprensione del performativo, delle live arts, e del loro potenziale. Ogni disco è in edizione numerata. Il vinile accoglie la solidificazione del gesto. Nell'insieme colleziona una serie di creazioni originali che costituiscono una rassegna a lungo termine. Onda su onda, Xong è una collana di “Musica-Non-Musica” per attualizzare l’immaginazione.

Xing presents the new LP Livre d'images sans images by Mette Edvardsen & Iben Edvardsen, tenth release of XONG collection - artist records. The release is on white vinyl, in a limited numbered edition of 300 copies. The collector's edition consists of 25 copies accompanied by a unique poster, hand drawn with black marker by the two artists, mother and daughter, folded like a map, echoing the activity of the performance.

Livre d'images sans images by Mette Edvardsen & Iben Edvardsen borrows its title from a book by H.C. Andersen, also referred to as The Moon Chronicler. The book follows a conversation between a painter and the Moon, where the Moon describes to the painter what she sees on her journey around the world every evening, telling the painter to paint what she describes. “This conversation, as in the now obsolete meaning of the word (‘a place where one lives or dwells’), was the starting point for our work. Using the weather report as dramaturgy, (‘the moon did not show up every evening, sometimes a cloud came in between’), we have created and collected materials from our conversations in the form of recordings, text, voice, drawings, references, found images, loose connections, inspirations and imaginations, in the order they came to us. They are at the same time sources and traces, material and support for new imaginations or events to come.” Livre d'images sans images is a project that consists of three different media: live performance, vinyl and paper.

Mette Edvardsen is a norwegian artist based in Oslo. Her work is situated within the performing arts field as a choreographer and performer. Although some of her works explore other media or other formats, such as video, books and writing, her interest is always in their relationship to the performing arts as a practice and a situation. She has worked since 1994 as a dancer and performer for a number of companies and projects, and develops her own work since 2002. She presents her works internationally and continues to develop projects with other artists, both as a collaborator and as a performer. Productions of hers include the performances Black (2011), No Title (2014), We to Be (2015), oslo (2017), which form a series on the limits of language, Penelope sleeps(2019), an opera in essay form with music by Matteo Fargion, and her long-term project Time has fallen alseep in the afternoon sunshine, that develops learning by heart as a practice. This project/process is ongoing since 2010, and has been presentedin more than 40 cities around the world ranging from Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, Sydney Biennale, Index Foundation in Stockholm, Oslobiennalen First Edition, Trust & Confusion at Tai Kwun Arts in Hong Kong, Sao Paulo Biennale, and Centre Pompidou Paris. Retrospectives of her work were presented at Black Box theatre in Oslo in 2015, in the focus program Idiorritmias at MACBA in Barcelona in 2018, and at Amant in New York (2022). In 2022-23 she developed a project in residence on the gesture of writing, how to organize the library, orality, and translation at Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers in Paris, and in 2023 she premiered thework Livre d'images sans images. Xong is the name of the collection produced by Xing, a vinyl-only record label of works by both Italian and international personalities linked to the variegated worlds of live performativity. The collection explores a geography of artists who present this sonic field as a platform to expand their staged worlds. "The space of the record" is given focus and amplifies their poetics as both a sonic and physical phenomenon. Xong is a unique project that draws out divergent understandings of the performative and live arts, beyond genre and intersecting between different practices. Xong collects a series of original creations that constitute an expanded program. Each physical record is a numbered edition on white vinyl hosting the solidification of the gesture. A wave upon wave, a series of "Music-Non-Music" to actualize both the artists and listeners imagination.
