Martedi 12, mercoledi 13, giovedi 14, venerdi 15 e sabato 16 ottobre 2021 dalle h 19 alle h 19.30, Xing e BAD HOUSE festival presentano FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY: On The Nature of Things di Simon Vincenzi, una serie di live broadcast suddivisa in cinque capitoli, trasmessi in diretta da un luogo nascosto da qualche parte nella periferia di Helsinki.

L’evento è la prosecuzione della prima serie commissionata per Live Arts Week VIII, FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY: The Song of Silenus, e si potrà seguire on line streaming su deadair.online da qualunque luogo, o comunitariamente nella zona che ha ospitato la sua prima messa in opera a Bologna, Pezzoli Enologia in Piazza Santo Stefano, che per l'occasione diventa hole #1.

Si inaugura così il primo hole autunnale ricavato da Xing come ridefinizione temporanea di uno spazio pubblico.

FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY: On The Nature of Things si richiama esplicitamente a De rerum natura di Lucrezio (99 aC - 55 aC), poema in chiave epica basato sulla lettura scientifica del mondo attraverso la fisica e l’antica teoria degli atomi: tutto ciò che esiste è costituito da materia e spazio vuoto, e gli atomi sono gli elementi costitutivi di ciò che percepiamo come realtà. FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY riorganizza il poema di Lucrezio come perimetro per porre una serie di domande sul futuro dell'universo, coinvolgendo una Intelligenza Artificiale che, interrogata, genera parole profetiche sul proprio futuro, facendo da sfondo a ciò che accade nel luogo nascosto. Le emissioni dispiegano progressivamente una narrazione che parte da un posto in cui si non può più entrare. Nel corso delle cinque trasmissioni si moltiplica una trama profetica e cosmologica, tra uffici di export avvolti nel mistero, grotte inaccessibili, training di sopravvivenza ed esercizi di pole dance.

DEAD AIR è il termine tecnico con cui viene definita una pausa in attesa che venga ripristinato un segnale radiofonico o televisivo momentaneamente interrotti., FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY è un progetto di Simon Vincenzi che coinvolge organicamente il sound artist Will Saunders e la performer Kath Duggan.

Simon Vincenzi è regista teatrale, coreografo e designer basato Londra. Le sue produzioni interdisciplinari si sviluppano preferibilmente attraverso lunghi processi articolati in performance, installazioni, video e pagine web, interconnessi tra loro. Il suo lavoro indaga diversi paesaggi tra rappresentazione e assenza, attraverso l'esplorazione di memoria e oblio, coscienza e dissociazione del sé. Tramite queste manifestazioni, che spesso agiscono nell'inconscio, Vincenzi accompagna lo spettatore in un paesaggio incerto e sconosciuto. Con la compagnia Bock & Vincenzi ha presentato invisible dances… from afar: A show that will never be shown (2003), opera realizzata per essere fruita unicamente al telefono, e The Invisible Dances (2004-2006), opera teatrale in tre atti presentata per tre anni consecutivi al Royal Opera House Clore Theatre, alla Biennale di Venezia, al Nott Dance International Festival, al Kunstenfestivaldesarts e al Laban Theatre di Londra. On Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13, Thursday 14, Friday 15 and Saturday 16 October 2021 from 7 pm to 7.30 pm, Xing and BAD HOUSE festival present FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY: On The Nature of Things by Simon Vincenzi, a series of five broadcast chapters being transmitted live from a hidden location somewhere on the outskirts of Helsinki. This is the second edition of an ongoing series of live broadcasts inspired by and developed from hidden places and their excavated realities.

The event is the continuation of the first series THE DEAD AIR ORGY: The Song of Silenus, commissioned by Xing for Live Arts Week XIII, and it will be possible to follow the online streaming on deadair.online from anywhere (pay attention at the clock: 8>8.30 pm EET Helsinki time), or as a live, covert event in Bologna in the same building that hosted its first installation, inside and outside Pezzoli Enologia Shop in Piazza Santo Stefano.

This occasion becomes hole # 1 and inaugurates the first season of holes created by Xing as a temporary redefinition of a public space.

FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY: On The Nature of Things revolve around the poem On The Nature of Things by the Roman poet Lucretius (c.99BC - c.55BC). His epic work explores a scientific reading of the world through physics and atomic theory: that everything that exists is made up of matter and empty space and that atoms are the building blocks of what we perceive as reality. FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY gathers Lucretius’s poem and uses it as the perimeter to ask a series of questions about the future of the universe. Using an Artificial Intelligence text generator it gathers from the internet, in response to Lucretius’s ancient work, a generated text that prophesies its own future. This wild, impenetrable and unpredictable text is then transmitted through each of the five broadcasts and becomes a backdrop to what is taking place in this hidden location. Each broadcast unlocking different narrative possibilities from a location an audience can now no longer enter. Over the five nights a network evolves of prophecies, cosmology, covert shipping exports, hidden caves, survivalist prepping and pole dancing.

The title of the series refers to the term 'dead air' - while waiting for a radio or television signal to be restored. FROM THE DEAD AIR ORGY: On The Nature of Things is a project by the British director Simon Vincenzi developed with sound artist Will Saunders and performer Kath Duggan. 

On the Nature of Things will be live-streamed from Helsinki and echoed in Bologna within the former headquarters of its first edition each evening. Each chapter will be approximately 20 minutes.. Simon Vincenzi is also the artist invited to create the next issue of Condylura, the publishing series dedicated to experimentation in the contemporary arts conceived as an expansion of critical writing printed in a 20-page newspaper, in broadsheet format. (https://condylura.com ).

Simon Vincenzi is a London based theatre director, choreographer and designer. His interdisciplinary work is often developed through long processes made up of interrelated performances, installations, videos and web pages. His work investigates different landscapes of representation and absence. Vincenzi investigates the interface of theatre, movement and visual languages often pushing the boundaries of expectation. Through an exploration of memory and oblivion, consciousness and the dissociation of the self, these different manifestations frequently tap into the unconscious, taking the audience/spectator into an uncertain and unknown landscape. With Bock & Vincenzi he presented invisible dances… from afar: A show that will never be shown (2003), a work made only to be experienced on the telephone, and The Invisible Dances (2004-2006), a theatre work in three acts presented over three years at The Royal Opera House Clore Theatre, The Venice Biennale, Nott Dance International Festival, Kunstenfestivaldesarts and the Laban Theatre, London. He continued with the five-year project Operation Infinity, working with the fictional theatre company Troupe Mabuse.
