N.M.O. nasce nel 2013 da un’idea di Morten J. Olsen e Rubén Patiño.
Rubén Patiño, musicista di Barcellona, ha animato per diversi anni la scena berlinese prima di trasferirsi fra Rotterdam e L'Aja, dove sta seguendo il master in Sonologia al Royal Conservatory. Patiño opera nel campo della computer music con frequenti incursioni nell'installation art. Il suo lavoro è caratterizzato da uno stile compositivo algoritmico iperenergetico e irriverente: volumi alti, accenti stocastici umoristici, impegno politico e futili visualizzazioni sono alla base della sua ricerca che si avvale di diverse tecniche di sintesi sonora. Ha suonato in festival ed eventi in tutta Europa e ha collaborato con Olivier Di Placido, Seiji Morimoto, EVOL – la cellula di computer music guidata da Roc Jiménez de Cisneros –, e con Staalplaat SoundSystem. Ha esposto in spazi e gallerie fra cui Able Gallery, NK e Sucked Orange Gallery (Berlino), Ariège (Francia), Hangar (Barcellona). Ha pubblicato una ventina di album/cd/tapes con le label Razzle Dazzle, Free Software Series, Desetxea, Audition Records, Ozono Kids, Le Petit Mignon, Skyndo e Biodata Records.
Morten J. Olsen, eclettico musicista norvegese, compositore e artista, ha compiuto i suoi studi ad Amsterdam per poi trasferirsi a Berlino dal 2006. Lavora su un ampio arco di forme musicali, dall'improvvisazione alla musica per orchestra, al rock sperimentale (con la formazione degli Ultralyd), alla musica concreta (con il duo MoHa!). Nel 2013 fonda assieme a Rubén Patiño il progetto N.M.O. Attraverso un approccio trasversale a questi ambiti molto disparati, prova a decostruire le tecniche di utilizzo degli apparati percussivi nei diversi contesti della cultura musicale. Ha alle spalle una quarantina di pubblicazioni discografiche (Rune Grammofon, Textile Records, +3db Records).

Rubén Patiño, a musician from Barcelona, brought life to the Berlin scene for many years before moving to Rotterdam and The Hague, where he is working towards his masters in Sonology at the Royal Conservatory. Patiño works in the computer music field, with frequent forays into installation art. His work is marked by an algorithmic composing style that is incredibly energetic and irreverent: high volumes, amusing stochastic accents, political involvement and frivolous visualizations form the ground for his research, which makes use of different techniques in sound synthesis. He has performed in festivals and events throughout Europe and has worked with Olivier Di Placido, Seiji Morimoto, EVOL - the computer music cell led by Roc Jiménez de Cisneros - and with Staalplaat SoundSystem. He has exhibited in spaces and galleries such as Able Gallery, NK and Sucked Orange Gallery (Berlin), Ariège (France) and Hangar (Barcelona). He has released some twenty albums/CDs/tapes with the labels Razzle Dazzle, Free Software Series, Desetxea, Audition Records, Ozono Kids, Le Petit Mignon, Skyndo and Biodata Records.
Morten J. Olsen, an eclectic musician, composer and artist from Norway, completed his studies in Amsterdam before moving to Berlin in 2006. He has worked in a wide range of musical forms, and with a sound palette which includes orchestral, electronic, improvised music, experimental rock (with the group Ultralyd) and musique concrète (with the duo MoHa!). In 2013 he and Rubén Patiño founded the N.M.O. project. Through an approach that reaches across these very diverse spheres, he seeks to break down the techniques for using percussion instruments in the different contexts of music culture. He has recorded more than forty works (Rune Grammofon, Textile Records, +3db Records).
