Parallelling is a piece by Mark Fell using light and synthetic sound to establish sensorial environments that are both engaging and disorienting. Featuring the performance practice of American artist Justin F. Kennedy’s and costume design by Isabella Carreras, the work circulates within and between the gallery’s three spaces. In common with Fell’s wider artistic and conceptual concerns, Parallelling draws together dissonant elements into dialogue around the nature of systemic behaviours: including recursion, permutation and repetition. For the opening, the work is activated through performative procedures by the dancer, while in the following days it is constantly reconfigured as an environment.
