Per Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine un gruppo di persone ha imparato a memoria un libro di sua scelta. Nel 2014, Live Arts Week III ha ospitato questo progetto di Mette Edvardsen, nella biblioteca Salaborsa, con una sezione speciale di libri viventi messi a disposizione degli utenti per essere 'consultati'. Dopo anni di apprendimento a memoria e recitazione per i lettori, alcuni di questi libri stanno tornando su carta. Con le alterazioni dovute alle loro menti, al processo di memorizzazione, alla sua consunzione per via delle ripetute consultazioni e lo scorrere del tempo, questi nuovi libri rappresentano un'interessante trasformazione del testo, dando vita ad una nuova biblioteca. Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine è divenuta una casa editrice per questi libri. In occasione dell'opening di Live Arts Week VI, Mette Edvardsen, ospite della galleria P420, si cimenterà nella riscrittura a memoria del testo che ha imparato a suo tempo. Contemporaneamente a LOCALEDUE sarà possibile visionare le edizioni stampate degli altri living books, insieme a materiali derivati da questo particolare processo di memorizzazione, lettura e ri-scrittura.

Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine – A book on reading, writing, memory and forgetting in a library of living books

 

For the project Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine a group of people dedicate themselves to memorizing a book of their choice. Together they form a library collection consisting of living booksIn 2014, Live Arts Week III hosted in the city library, Salaborsa, this special project by Mette Edvardsen together with a Bologna section of the whole collection of living books that spent their time in the library waiting to be 'picked up'. After years of learning by heart and reciting for readers, some of the books have now been written down from memory – back to paper. These books are re-written versions, altered by the process of memory, the practice of learning by heart, numerous recitations for different readers, and time. Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine has become a publishing house for these editions. As an ongoing durational activity during the opening of Live Arts Week, at P420 art gallery Mette Edvardsen will be writing down from memory the book she has learned by heart. While at LocaleDue there will be the printed editions from the re-writing on display together with other materials from this process of reading and writing.
