For Faces (unplugged)

 Antonia Baehr

For Faces is a choreographic quartet for the face. The faces of four performers are the playing field in this choregraphic landscape of features in mutation. The movements chronicle a micro-life and the imperceptible, slow transformations. Twitching lips, fluttering eyelids, flaring nostrils, clenched jaws, blinking eyes, furrowing brows, tilting heads, sinking gazes – all create elusive impressions of sentiments that slowly emerge and dissolve, are sustained and continued in a calm panorama of space and time. Throughout the length of the work, portraits melt into landscapes, freely after Gertrude Stein: static and simultaneously moving formations in which each element is connected to the other. Antonia Baehr turns her attention to the fictive potential that is latent both in everyday life as well as in the theatre. In doing so she makes the reception behaviour of the spectators a subject – and also turns For Faces into a work about watching.
