Stills nasce come esperimento. Da un punto di vista tecnico è molto semplice: Mette Edvardsen ha fatto le riprese video a camera fissa chiedendo alle persone in campo di creare gli 'effetti'. Il lavoro è costruito sulle ambiguità e le tensioni tra intenzione e azione, sui concetti di tempo e resistenza, e gioca sui disturbi della percezione ottica. Mi interessava capire come la tecnologia video può interagire e plasmare le nostre azioni (fisiche), e che tipo di risposta può produrre. Volevo vedere come si può restituire attraverso questo medium l'esperienza della presenza. Una sorta di 'idea fisica'. Stills è una serie di 12 immagini in loop. Ogni 'foto' ha una durata di 1 minuto.

Stills was born as an experiment. From a technical point of view the task was simple: Mette Edvardsen used a video-camera only to capture and asked people in the field to create the 'effects'. The work is centered on ambiguities and tensions between intentions and actions, on concepts of tension and resistance, and on disturbances of optical perception. 'I was interested in how video as technology could interact or inform our (physical) doing, and what this would produce in return. I wanted to see how presence could be experienced, like a 'physical idea', through this media'. Stills is a series of 12 looped images. Each 'photo' lasts 1 minute.
