NEWTON di Cesare Pietroiusti è la quattordicesima uscita di XONG collection - dischi d'artista, prodotto da Xing. L’uscita è su vinile bianco, in edizione limitata e numerata di 150 copie, assieme ad una tiratura di 30 collector’s edition ciascuna delle quali sarà spedita direttamente dall’artista, imbustata, come un’opera di mail art, in un packaging, unico per ogni copia, realizzato specificamente per questa occasione.

NEWTON è un’opera sonora concepita da Cesare Pietroiusti per approdare su vinile, un’epopea della caduta, agita, subita e osservata dall’artista stesso.
La ricerca artistica di Pietroiusti esprime interesse per situazioni nascoste nelle pieghe della ordinarietà dell’esistenza – pensieri che vengono in mente senza un motivo apparente, piccole ossessioni considerate troppo insignificanti per diventare motivo di analisi, o di auto-rappresentazione. Un aspetto di questa ricerca indaga gli effetti collaterali, gli errori, i fallimenti che emergono all’interno di un qualsiasi progetto e che possono svelarne potenzialità conoscitive, emotive o espressive, inattese per lo stesso artista.
Per circa due mesi Pietroiusti ha registrato, con un microfono Lavalier collegato a un piccolo registratore portatile, che per lo più ha tenuto attaccato alla cintura dei pantaloni, il suono prodotto da tutte le cadute di oggetti, provocate, direttamente o indirettamente da lui. Cose che sfuggono dalle mani, che cadono poiché coinvolte nello spostamento di altre cose, cose su cui si inciampa o si sbatte, cose appoggiate malamente da qualche parte, cose non viste. In tutti i casi si è trattato di cadute accidentali, dovute a maldestrezza, errori di valutazione, distrazione, fretta. Gli oggetti coinvolti in queste cadute sono oggetti qualunque: monete, capi di vestiario, utensili, chiavi, tappi di bottiglie ecc. Però l’artista definisce questi eventi come dei micro-traumi che “pur nella loro disarmante e ordinaria banalità, ci rammentano la nostra soggezione – che è al tempo stesso adattamento e contrasto, utilizzo e fallimento – alla forza di gravità”.
Il disco contiene, sul lato A, una suite dei singoli rumori al momento della caduta, mentre, sul lato B, essi sono accompagnati da una descrizione verbale dell’evento appena accaduto, fatta ‘sul posto’. Un ostinato singolare che coinvolge chi ascolta in un’esperienza nota e ineludibile quanto la legge di gravitazione universale newtoniana.

The LP NEWTON by Cesare Pietroiustif is the fourteenth release of XONG collection - artist records, produced by Xing. The release is on white vinyl, in a limited and numbered edition of 150 copies, together with a print run of 30 collector's editions, each of which will be sent directly by the artist, as a work of mail art, in a unique packaging for each copy made specifically for this occasion.

NEWTON is a sound work conceived by Cesare Pietroiusti, an artist interested in micro-events, paradoxical situations, behaviour and minor gestures that make up our daily life. NEWTON is an epic of the fall, experienced, suffered and observed by the artist himself.
For about two months Pietroiusti recorded with a Lavalier microphone connected to a small portable recorder, which he mostly kept attached to the waistband of his trousers, the sound produced by all the falling objects caused, directly or indirectly, by him. "Things that slip out of the hands, things that fall because they are caught in the movement of other things, things that one trips over or bumps into, things that are badly placed somewhere, things that are unseen. In all cases they are accidental and unplanned falls, due to clumsiness, errors of judgement, distraction, haste. Events that refer to whatever objects: coins, clothes, tools, keys, bottle tops, etc.," and which the artist defines micro-traumatic because "despite their disarming and ordinary banality, they remind us of our subjection - which is both adaptation and contrast, use and failure - to the force of gravity".
The record contains, on side A, the sounds of the falls, isolated and recomposed in the form of a suite, while, on side B, they are accompanied by a verbal description of the accident that has just occurred, made 'on the spot'. An ostinato that engages the listener in a well known and unavoidable experience as Newton's law of universal gravitation.
