Christian Fennesz

Christian Fennesz is a guru of contemporary electronic music, as well a pillar of the record label Mego (founded with Pita and Ramon Bauer, and dedicated to avant guard electronic music). Having worked for a long time with portable computers to create sounds that start with the sampling of guitars and then are processed through software. Fennesz incarnates, especially after the success of certain clamorous verses of his latest album entitled Endless Summer, the persona of the contemporary Laptop/pop artist. Going from experimental loops to noises, crossing fragmented melodies, simple phrases and "Brian Wilson like" harmonies, Endless Summer plays strange summer emotions… Different from previous projects such as Maische (experimental rock with hints of free jazz), and Orchester 331/3 (multidisciplined big band). The musical productions of Fennesz have always been rooted in the encounter and sharing with other musicians. His most recent partners have included Jim O'Rourke, Pita, Keith Rowe, Rehberg. An anthology has recently been released on the cult record lable Touch.
