Controlled Dream Machine

Controlled Dream Machine is a system that works as a complete dreaming human mind. The body, consisting of robotic legs, is dreaming. The dreams, which are the animations, express the unconscious of the robot legs, and the neurons' data are generating the way of the dreams and the behaviors of the system. The robot body and the dreams are sending feedback-symptoms to each other, as defense mechanisms and R.E.M (rapid eyes movements). The robot legs are dreaming with memories, traumas, nightmares, sensations and a collective unconscious. All of these areas are rhizomaly-connected through a phenomenon called “transpassages”. The film appears as a unique, surreal construction of delirious appearances, deconstructions and illusions, achieving the sense of unreality, impossibility, by manipulating the perceptions of space, geometry, architecture. The music was composed by the artist Theo Firmo, who created the sound and sound design for the animations.
