danza/performance, prima italiana

What means the social image of the dancer? How does the perception of both dancers and spectators change?  How can they create a common space?
Low Pieces by French choreographer Xavier Le Roy, involves an extraordinary team of eight international artists and performers. Refusing the clothing codes and evading social habits, Le Roy offers to the viewer a community released from its humanity. Low Pieces does not embrace any standard. One cannot judge in terms of virtuosity, dynamics, aesthetics, or emotion, or by the performance criteria associated to the couple Representation/Recognition. Here there is another intelligence, the intelligence of plants or animals, an intelligence that has no need for translation devices. We are fascinated by the choreographic landscapes that suggest other forms of being in the world, but also the feeling of sharing a collective experience that is not exclusively of the theatre.Low Pieces demonstrates the power of performance for opening up to ideas and permitting knowledge.
